Fine Arts

I focus mainly in composition when it comes to my work. The process is finding the balance of seemingly unrelated objects and composing them in a way they belong together. I've collected mementos and materials throughout my life and find a resting place for them in my art. I incorporate a signature vibrant color scheme of teal, turquoise, raspberry pink, salmon, plum, light olive, and gold- all of which are found in nature. My aesthetic is representative of how I live my life; simple, natural, and glamorous. I work mainly in mixed media, but I aim to bring my lifestyle into various different art forms. I want to explore everything I can when it comes to my creativity. My art is inspired by my own experiences with culture, travel, and myself. As an artist, I am whatever I turn out to be.

New Beginnings

Mixed Media. Undefined size.

This piece depicts five separate encounters in the same subject but with different people. It was created as a part of our first exhibition of the new year of 2016 with the same name of New Beginnings. I used scraps from an vinyl project to create something new and useful.

This piece was created for our second show of the year at Utopia Feni, "All Natural". The exhibition featured artists interpretations of nature and this piece was based on our sunsets of the coast in my backyard.

Cosmic Ceremony

Mixed Media. 15x20in.

This piece was a part of our LOST & FOUND exhibition which featured recycling in mixed media pieces. It features some supplies I collected in London, doilies and rose petals from a wedding in North Carolina, shells from broken jewelry, and a clam shell from my backyard all mounted on a piece of scrap board our handyman Rodney gave to me before he passed away in April. I arranged the piece to be a celebration featuring a cake in a galaxy using different elements to relate it to the concept and the cosmos. It represents the equilibrium of a productive and difficult time in my life.

Italian Alleyways

This piece was featured as a work in progress in our Dollhouse exhibition in July of 2016 and as a finished(?) piece as a part of our Destinations exhibition the following December. The portrait is based on my fascination with Italian alleyways and my experience of finally being able to visit them in November of 2015. This piece is very personal and reminds me of a certain time filled with magic, love, and hope. This piece inspires me to keep working on myself and my art. This piece features fake or dead flowers from multiple occasions, remnants from old projects, baroque wallpaper from my bedroom, broken jewelry, and plants from our garden.

$elf Portrait

Mixed Media. 16x24in.

I created this piece as a part of our Human Portraits exhibition at Utopia Feni. It features my personal color scheme along with wilted flowers which I received on my 24th birthday (they were still alive of course) and scrap fabric from my days in fashion school. I like to challenge myself through different forms of visual art through our shows at UF, in this case I wanted to practice portraiture. These shows are very personal yet appeal to a wide audience of artists and patrons.

This is still a work in progress and will post an updated version once completed. I hope to add more depth and sentimental value to the piece.
